Enhancing knowledge and skills at WB HEIs in preparation for zero carbon maritime transport and logistics society (Zero C) project aims to create the necessary prerequisites in Albania and Montenegro (WB) for providing competent, industry-oriented, human resources for shipping industry related to decarbonisation, energy efficiency and logistics optimization as well as for governmental institutions related to implementation of IMO and EU policies in the shipping sector. This will be provided through increased capacities of WB (Maritime) HEIs.
The main objective of Project Zero-C is to contribute to enhanced industry-oriented skills of university students and professionals in Western Balkans (WB) related to and decarbonisation of maritime transport, energy efficiency and logistics. In order to do this, the Project Consortium elaborated a comprehensive approach according to each Partner’s experience and field of expertise. In fact, the Project will benefit from several academic partners with a deep knowledge of the policy framework of reference, and also from the presence of the Chambers of commerce and maritime environmental protection and maritime safety national institutions of the implied WB countries (all of them are full partners of the Zero-C project). Furthermore, EU partners will guide the translation of this theoretical knowledge into practical learning outcomes to be administered to the professionals of the local stakeholders, in order to accelerate the awareness about decarbonisation, energy efficiency and port logistics optimisation among the WB private companies and the consequent upskilling of the already employed workforce.
The direct target groups are teaching staff and students at WB HEIs and professionals from maritime transport and port operation companies, their companies, national Albanian and Montenegrin institutions in charge of regulating and monitoring emissions from the shipping sector, and general public.
